Description

Join us for a casual walk or bike ride (your choice!) as we explore McDowell Creek Greenway! This event is the latest in our Growing Our Greenways series, which is co-hosted by Sustain Charlotte, the Carolina Thread Trail, and Partners for Parks. Before our walk/ride, we'll hear from key individuals from the North Mecklenburg towns, Partners for Parks, Carolina Thread Trail, and Sustain Charlotte.

All participants will be required to sign a waiver upon arrival. We will follow CDC and local health guidance including social distancing, and we ask that you not attend if you are experiencing any covid symptoms or would otherwise put other attendees at risk.

Parking is available at 8321 Magnolia Estates Dr., across Magnolia Estates Drive from the trailhead. Please park on the edges of the parking lot near the trail and away from the shops, or on-street in Magnolia Estates. The trailhead is located about 0.5 mile from the Cornelius Park & Ride (20208 Sefton Park Rd, Cornelius, NC 28031) if you'd like to use transit to get to the event.

Route: When you register, please indicate if you plan to walk or bike. This 5.75-mile segment of the greenway has some hills, so, whether you plan to walk or ride, come prepared for undulations. But don't worry; as with all of our Growing Our Greenway events, we welcome bike riders and walkers of all ages and abilities. We won't leave anyone behind! Walkers will likely turn around at Westmoreland Rd, resulting in a ~3-mile walking option.

Continue the discussion with us after the main event at Jack's Corner Tap (8301 Magnolia Estates Dr, Cornelius, NC 28031). This is not an "official" part of the event, simply an opportunity to learn more about ways to get involved with our organizations.

Rain date: In case of inclement weather, the event will be postponed. Registered attendees will receive an email notifying you of the change.
