Description
WEATHER POSTPONEMENT: Due to the risk of icy conditions, we've postponed this event to Tuesday, February 25th. Same time, same place.
In light of the devastating federal Executive Orders that threaten to roll back decades of progress on equity and environmental health, do individuals still have any power to make a difference in politics? Yes! You'll hear inspiring examples of how people are working together at the local level in Charlotte to build momentum on critical sustainability issues — and how you can join the movement. We'll share practical info about how to invite your elected officials to meet with you, speak at a City Council or the County Commission meeting, serve on an advisory board, and partner with like-minded people to be more powerful together!
Featuring a moderated panel discussion including:
Tonya Jameson, Leading on Opportunity
Joi Mayo, Transforming Nations Ford
Kennedy Williams, CleanAIRE NC
Join us for light refreshments and mingling at 6:00. The program will begin at 6:30pm.
After the program, we will open the floor for audience Q&A.
Location: The event will be at Town Brewing, 800 Grandin Road. The venue can be reached by CATS bus route 5 (W Morehead St) and Stewart Creek Greenway. Parking is available in front of the venue. While we won't have childcare available, you're welcome to bring your kids and supervise them. Please note this venue is a brewery and may not be the best setting for young children.
Accessibility: We want this event to be welcoming and accessible for everyone. If you require accommodations due to a disability, please contact Meg at meg.fencil@sustaincharlotte.org. A 72-hour notice is appreciated to allow us time to ensure we fully meet your needs.
